This Latricières-Chambertin is medium-bodied with soft, moderate tannins and a fresh acidity that makes it enormously food-friendly. The soft tannins and elegant structure suit dishes with moderate richness without requiring powerful, heavy sauces, while the dark fruit, licorice and spices play against earthy tones such as mushrooms and truffle. Choose proteins prepared gently, so the wine's finesse is given room, and let the acidity cleanse the palate after rich cheese and juicy meat.

About the wine

Domainets has a smaller plot of 0.67 ha. The canes are 35-66 years old.

The Domaine's Grands Crus are matured in oak barrels (80% new barrels) from the Allier and Nivernais regions with medium roasting to give the wine a restrained and harmonious barrel character.

With a dark ruby red color in the glass. The aroma is full of dark red berries, licorice and spices. The taste is typically Latricières-Chambertin. Virile and powerful with great aromatic complexity. Dark fruit, spices and flowers.

The wine is supremely elegant. The delicious tannins are soft and seductive despite the wine's potency. "Masculine and very balanced".

The 2021 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru has a perfumed floral lavender-scented bouquet with a mixture of red and black fruit. It does not quite achieve the focus of Faiveley's Mazis-Chambertin but builds nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit, quite saline from the get-go with ample grip. Structured and linear, peppery with an almost feisty finish, I am sure that time will tame this. Excellent.
