This is an elegant Pinot Noir with medium body, fresh acidity and discreet, soft tannins, and it performs best with dishes that play on the same finesse rather than overpowering it. The fresh acidity and the soft tannins cut nicely through the richness in poultry and pork without turning hard, while the wine's earthy, mineral character from the limestone slope chimes beautifully together with mushrooms, truffle and ripe cheeses. As a classic Burgundy it works almost by itself with the region's own dishes, where the red fruits are joined by a little sweetness and umami. Pour into large glasses and enjoy it in good company.

About the wine

Maladière is a steep southeast facing rock slope. The field is 4.35 hp. The vines are approx. 35 years old. The soil is blasted limestone with a thin layer of loam. Because of the steep slope, grass is planted between the canes to preserve the soil so that it is not washed away by running water.

Vinification takes place with natural yeast, on whole grapes, the majority of which are destemmed, approx. 30% whole classes.

⅔ is matured in Bourgogne oak barriques, of which 15-20% are new.

⅓ of the cuvée is matured in large Foudres, which are large oak vats.

A powerful and aromatic Premier Cru with a nice dark red colour.

The aroma is intense of red fruits and berries.

The taste is very present with discreet tannins, nice intensity and a long finish.

A wonderful food wine that should be enjoyed in good company and in large glasses.
