This Santenay is a classic red Burgundy with medium body, discreet tannins and a fresh acidity that carries the flavour of red fruits and berries. The soft, moderate tannins make it a graceful partner to rich, but not too fatty, proteins, where the fruit and acidity lift the richness without dominating. Pinot Noir is the most cheese-loving red wine, so mature sheep's and cow's milk cheeses pair beautifully, and the light oak ageing and earthy finesse suit mushrooms, truffle and light game.

About the wine

A powerful and aromatic Premier Cru with a beautiful dark red color.

The aroma is intense with red fruits and berries.

The taste is very present with discreet tannins. Red fruits dominate the palette. Impressive intensity and a complexity that develops in the glass. A wine with a persistent finish that reflects its finesse and potential to evolve over time.

Maladière is a steep southeast-facing rocky slope. The vineyard covers 4.35 hectares. The vines are approximately 35 years old. The soil consists of fractured limestone with a thin layer of topsoil. Due to the steep incline, grass is planted between the vines to prevent soil erosion caused by running water.

Vinification takes place with natural yeast on whole grapes, the majority are destemmed, about 30% whole bunches.

⅔ is aged in Burgundy oak barriques, of which 15-20% are new.

⅓ of the cuvée is aged in large foudres, which are large oak vats.

A delightful wine for food, best enjoyed in good company and in large glasses.
