This is a classic Burgundy pinot with a medium-bodied frame, discreet tannins and a fresh, present acidity, where red fruits and a lightly earthy, oak-aged complexity fill the glass. The soft tannins and the freshness make it a wonderful companion to poultry, veal and light game prepared in a gentle manner, where the wine's finesse is given room without being run over. The mild tannin structure makes pinot noir unusually friendly toward cheese, and the red berries pair nicely with dishes carrying fruity or mushroomy notes. Choose preparations such as roasting and braising over the very heaviest, so that wine and food meet each other at the same weight.

About the wine

A powerful and aromatic magnum Premier Cru with a beautiful dark red color.

The aroma is intense with red fruits and berries.

The taste is very present with subtle tannins. Red fruits dominate the palette. It has great intensity and a complexity that develops in the glass. A wine with a lingering aftertaste that reflects its finesse and potential to evolve over time.

Maladière is a steep southeast-facing rocky slope. The vineyard covers 4.35 hectares. The vines are approximately 35 years old. The soil is fractured limestone with a thin layer of topsoil. Due to the steep incline, grass is planted between the vines to preserve the soil and prevent it from being washed away by running water.

Vinification is done with natural yeast, with whole grapes, most of which are destemmed, about 30% whole clusters.

⅔ is aged in Burgundy oak barriques, with 15-20% being new.

⅓ of the cuvée is matured in large foudres, which are large oak vats.

A delightful wine that should be enjoyed in good company and in large glasses.
