Marche – biodynamic verdicchio with energy and precision
Pievalta is located in the heart of the Marche region, surrounded by rolling green hills and a landscape that invites calm, balance, and long-term winemaking. The winery was established in 2002 and has since distinguished itself as one of the most serious and uncompromising producers in the area - with a clear focus on verdicchio and working in close harmony with nature.
At Pievalta, tradition, craftsmanship, and a deep passion for biodynamic methods are united in a wine project where terroir and energy are at the center.
Organic and biodynamic as a foundation
Already in 2008, Pievalta became the first certified organic producer in Marche, and since then, the winery has consistently continued with biodynamic principles. Between the vine rows, legumes are used as green manure, and biodynamic preparations are employed to build fertile soil, strengthen the plants' natural resistance, and maintain the area's ecological balance.
This approach is not ideological but practically rooted - and the goal is clear: to create living wines with authenticity and a clear origin.
Vineyards, area, and nature
Today, Pievalta encompasses a total of 43 hectares, of which 32 hectares are planted with vineyards. The rest is preserved as lush nature and functions as an integral part of the winery's ecosystem. The combination of vineyards, forest, and open areas contributes to biodiversity and provides healthy, balanced vineyards.
Verdicchio at the center
Verdicchio is the heart of Pievalta's wine production. The grape is closely associated with Marche and has a remarkable range in its expression - from crisp, fresh, and mineral to deep, complex, and age-worthy.
Pievalta's range explores precisely these nuances. The most immediate wines appear fresh and lively with pronounced acidity, clear minerality, and notes of lemon, pear, and apple. Other cuvées, such as San Paolo, showcase verdicchio's more concentrated side with greater depth, floral nuances, and subtle nutty notes.
Common to all the wines is a clear energy and a distinct imprint of the place they come from.
The people behind Pievalta
Pievalta is owned today by Barone Pizzini, a pioneer in organic Franciacorta. The winemaker at Pievalta is oenologist Alessandro Fenino, who, with great experience and deep understanding of both verdicchio and the area's climatic conditions, has elevated the wines to a very high level.
Alessandro is known for his curiosity and desire to explore new paths - always with respect for the grape and the place. This experimental, yet controlled approach helps give Pievalta's wines their particular vibrancy and personality.
