San Pio is a full-bodied and lingering red wine with soft, ripe tannins from Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, and those tannins play best against richness and protein. Choose juicy, powerful meat dishes and robust preparations like grilling and slow roasting, where the fat softens the tannins and the wine in turn cuts through the richness. The ripe fruit and vanilla note from French oak match flavorful antipasti and charcuterie nicely, and a hard, mature cheese stands up to the wine's weight.

About the wine

San Pio is - in addition to being the name of one of Mastrojanni's properties in Montalcino - the house's IGT.

Sangiovese/Cabernet Sauvignon blend aged 18 months in French oak, followed by 3 months in bottle before release.

San Pio appears deep ruby ​​red in the glass and you are met by aromas which are a mix of fresh fruit and jam, with hints of vanilla. The taste is full and persistent with soft tannins.
