This classic Bordeaux blend from Tuscany has power, a full body and fine, ripe tannins that need richness and protein-rich food to play against. Fatty and juicy meat smooths out the elegant tannins and makes the wine even softer, while the long, mineral finish holds its own against hearty roasted and grilled dishes. If you go for charcuterie, the salty, fatty cold cuts and slightly tangy accompaniments like cornichons provide a fine balance to the wine's structure. Avoid, on the other hand, lean fish and eggy or very creamy dishes, where the tannins easily turn metallic or harsh.

About the wine

Tua Rita's signature wine. 1 vintage was 1992.

80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc.

Classic Bordeaux blend and the wine that has put Tua Rita on the map.

After harvest, the grapes have been lying for approx. 18 months in barriques, new and once used.

The wine, like all other wines from Tua Rita, is very elegant.

The wine has a certain power when young, but it is a wine with great potential. The nose is dominated by wild fruits. It is very mineral and has very fine elegant tannins.

The finish on the wine is wonderfully long.

A fantastic wine.

Critic reviews

96Robert Parker
The Wine Advocate
This is a beautiful wine, one that's set up for long cellar aging.
94Decanter
In the mouth it combines bright and precise acidity with soft, voluptuous yet structured black fruits, with some juicy spiced plum, herbal bitters, chocolate and a woody presence. Fine-grained tannins grip the gums and bolster the fruit.
94Wine Spectator
Aromas and flavours of blackcurrants, blackberries, plums, violets, green olives, graphite and wild rosemary are the hallmarks of this impressive red wine
