This is a full-bodied Bordeaux blend from Veneto with complex notes of blackcurrant, cocoa, pepper and coffee and a soft core of very ripe, sweet tannins. The rich tannins need to meet proteins and fat, so they soften and become velvety, and the wine's body harmonizes well with robustly prepared meat from grill and oven. The ripe structure and the round tannins also make it good with charcuterie and well-aged cheeses, where a tangy pickle or coarse mustard keeps the palate fresh between bites.
