Collection: Domaine Jean Grivot
In Burgundy's small and famous wine commune Vosne-Romanée, some of the world's best and most sought-after wines are made. Only surrounded by stone fences and small roads, the iconic fields lie side by side. In this Burgundy lover's paradise, legendary single estate wines such as Domaine de la Romanée-Conti's Romanée-Conti and Domaine de la Comté Liger Belair's La Romanée are found
Domaine Jean Grivot is an older domaine and the family has been represented in Vosne-Romanée since the 18th century.
Jean Grivot took over after his father's death in 1955, and from 1959 all the estate's wines were bottled under his own name. Ever since, the domaine has created an exceptional reputation for both the quality of the wines and the transparency of the respective terroirs. In 1982, Jean's son Etienne joined him, after completing his oenology studies in Beaune. Gradually, the responsibility was transferred to Etienne and since 1987 he has been responsible for both the fields and the cellar.
Domaine Jean Grivot is going through an exciting phase at the moment as responsibility is transferred from Etienne's hands to the talented and passionate hands of his daughter Mathilde. She brings a fresh approach to this unique domaine while maintaining the long tradition of the Grivot family. The process of this "generation change" has been completely natural and very successful. Over the past decade, Domaine Jean Grivot has grown stronger and stronger in the shadow of the stars, continuously perfecting its production.
The winemaking techniques at the estate are considered classically modern. The grapes are completely de-stemmed. Around 40% new oak barrels are used. The family owns approx. 12 ha. vineyards in total and count unique landholdings in Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-st-Georges, Chambolle-Musigny and including plots on the Grand Cru fields Clos de Vougeot, Echezeaux and Richebourg.
